Kristina Tebo, MD, is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist and global health leader committed to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care to underserved children worldwide. As an assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, she provides comprehensive inpatient care at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center, managing a spectrum of acute, chronic, and complex pediatric conditions. Dr. Tebo is known for her family centered, evidence based care and close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Dr. Tebo earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with High Honors from Baylor College of Medicine, then completed her pediatric residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University/Lurie Children’s Hospital (2012–2015). She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine and holds a Texas medical license.
Her clinical and academic interest is focused on pediatric global health and global health education. She completed the global health track during medical school and spent several months rotating at hospitals in West Africa during her residency. Upon completion of training, she focused her professional efforts in Togo, West Africa, where she served as a pediatrician for nearly three years at the Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital. During this time, Dr. Tebo worked as a pediatric hospitalist, mentored Togolese mid-level providers, completed quality improvement projects, led the hospital’s medical committee, oversaw the hospital supply chain, and served in many administrative roles.
In 2021, Dr. Tebo joined UTHealth Houston as an assistant professor and rapidly founded the Pediatric Global Health Program, which she now directs. She also serves as assistant vice president of global health initiatives and assistant dean of global health at McGovern Medical School. Dr. Tebo extensively teaches and mentors pediatric residents in global health and professional development. She has received numerous awards for professionalism and humanism (2023, 2024), the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award (2024, 2025), and the Pediatric Junior Faculty Educator of the Year Award (2025).
