Biography

Wan-Hsuan “Sherly” Chen, DO, is a board-certified physician specializing in pediatric hospital medicine. She currently practices as a pediatric hospitalist at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, providing comprehensive inpatient care to children with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Dr. Chen is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, family-centered care and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to support her patients’ well-being.

She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Her clinical interests include child advocacy, medical education, and global health — especially mentoring residents and exploring effective pediatric care in diverse and underserved health care settings. She also serves as a faculty mentor and co-director for McGovern Medical School’s Advocacy and Child Health Scholarly Concentration, guiding students in advocacy projects and community-based work. While delivering high-quality hospital care, she pursues opportunities to improve health equity and train the next generation of compassionate pediatricians.
