Jason B. Meschin, MD, MS, is an assistant professor of pediatric cardiology at UTHealth Houston and a key member of the Children’s Heart Institute (CHI). He serves as an exercise cardiologist in the Exercise and Lifestyle Program and as an acute care cardiologist in the Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (IMU), where he also functions as the physician APP lead. In these roles, he provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to children and adolescents across the Texas Medical Center and the Memorial Hermann health system.
Dr. Meschin completed both his Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship, serving as chief fellow, and his pediatrics residency at UTHealth Houston. He earned his medical degree from the Texas A&M Health Science Center, followed by a Master of Science in Medical Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He is board certified in pediatric cardiology and general pediatrics.
Within CHI, Dr. Meschin provides specialized expertise in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), exercise-based risk assessment, transthoracic echocardiography, ECG interpretation, ambulatory rhythm monitoring, and care of patients with complex congenital heart disease. His clinical activities span outpatient clinics, transthoracic echo reading, acute care cardiology, and exercise physiology–driven care.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Meschin teaches medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows through lectures and hands-on training in ECG fundamentals, postoperative cardiac care, exercise physiology, and pediatric cardiology board review. He is actively engaged in scholarly work, with publications and national presentations focused on CPET performance in single-ventricle patients, vascular rings and slings, and pediatric cardiovascular education. His professional interests include exercise cardiology, acute care cardiology, echocardiography, quality of life in Fontan patients, cardiac rehabilitation, and advancing education for trainees across the CHI and UTHealth Houston.
