Leadership at Bleeding Disorders Workshop and Conference

Faculty and fellows from the Department of Pediatrics attended the Women and Girls with Blood Disorders (WGBD) Learning Access Network (LAN) Workshop, and the Foundation for Women and Girls with Blood Disorders Conference in September in Long Beach, CA. Lakshmi Srivaths, MD, professor of hematology and director of the Pediatric Thrombosis Clinic, served as chair of the WGBD LAN Workshop and led a round-table discussion on “Research in Women and Girls with Bleeding and Clotting Disorders.”

Additionally, Srivaths, along with Neethu Menon, MD, assistant professor of hematology, and social worker Sabrina Farina presented on an art-therapy program for young women with bleeding disorders they led in 2023, and Asha Davidson, MD, MPH, assistant professor of adolescent medicine, gave a keynote address titled “The Impact of Eating Disorders and Body Image Disturbance on Females with Blood Disorders.”

A pair of pediatric hematology/oncology fellows, Ramya Ramakrishnan, MD, and Olayinka Okeleji, MD, were able to attend the conference after winning the FWGBD Travel Awards.
