Biography

Amanda M. McCarthy, MD, MPH, FAAP, is an assistant professor of pediatric critical care and pediatric palliative care at UTHealth Houston and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. She completed her fellowships in pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric hospice & palliative medicine in Houston, as well as her general pediatrics residency and chief residency at Nemours Children’s Hospital and Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. McCarthy holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Medicine from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Her clinical and research interests span global health, medical education, and improving care delivery for critically ill and medically complex children. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine.
