Biography

Angie Curtis, MD, CAQSM, is a board-certified pediatrician and sports medicine physician with a deep commitment to the health and performance of young athletes. She currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she combines clinical excellence with a passion for education and community service.

Dr. Curtis earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-med from Xavier University of Louisiana, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at UTHealth Houston and went on to pursue a fellowship in Pediatric Primary Care Sports Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She also holds a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

With more than a decade of experience, Dr. Curtis has served in both clinical and academic roles, including as a team physician for various high schools. She is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and has developed a pediatric sports medicine elective to enhance pediatric training.

Dr. Curtis is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council of Sports Medicine and Fitness and a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Her dedication extends beyond the clinic through volunteer work at major athletic events and local schools, where she provides medical support and conducts sports physicals. A frequent speaker and media contributor, Dr. Curtis has presented on topics such as overuse injuries, concussion management, and exercise-induced disorders. Her work reflects a lifelong dedication to advancing pediatric sports medicine and ensuring safe, effective care for young athletes.
