Sushma Raman Hebbar, MD, is an assistant professor of pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, with a clinical focus in outpatient pediatric care and sports medicine. She is fellowship trained and double board certified in sports medicine and pediatric medicine. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University and completed her pediatric residency at Schneider Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
In her clinical practice, Dr. Hebbar provides nonsurgical treatment options — such as physical therapy and oral and topical medications — to help her patients achieve their desired activity levels and return to sport. She is also very interested in injury prevention and balanced nutrition to help patients reach their goals and ensure lifelong health and fitness.
Dr. Hebbar is actively involved in teaching pediatric residents and medical students, and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Texas Pediatric Society, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications and national presentations, and she was recognized as a Texas Children’s Hospital Feedback Champion in 2022 and also given the Excellence in Teaching Award within Community and General Pediatrics in 2025.
