We had a great response to our recent Media Skills Training! The UTHealth Houston Media Relations team shared helpful information about how to handle any media request along with best practices for virtually any interaction with media. If you didn’t get to join live, don’t worry: you can now find all the information, insight, and tips by visiting the Department of Pediatrics SharePoint homepage and clicking the “Media skills” image in the header.
As a follow-up to the training, we hosted a Q&A with associate professor of pediatric infectious diseases, Michael Chang, MD, one of our Department’s most experienced media voices. The recording of the Q&A along with a summary of Dr. Chang’s Media Tips are also accessible via the Media skills page in SharePoint.
The goal for this training and resource page is to ensure all Department of Pediatrics clinicians feel comfortable and confident accepting a media request. Because UTHealth Houston is a respected and sought-after source for medical expertise, media requests abound! The more requests we can fill, the more accurate and preventive health information we can share with the community.
If you have additional questions or if you have an idea to pitch to the media, please contact Assistant Project Manager Clarissa Webb.
