Hematology Division leads at 2025 ISTH Congress

The International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) held their 2025 congress in Washington, D.C., June 20 to 24, 2025, and the Division of Hematology had many opportunities to lead.

Professor Lakshmi Srivaths, MD, (pictured above at left) gave a talk on Women and Girls with Hemophilia: Screening and Diagnosis for the factor 8, 9. Professor Miguel A. Escobar, MD, chaired a subcommittee on factor VIII, IX, and rare coagulation disorders (above right). Additionally, Dr. Srivaths co-chaired the SSC Subcommittee on Pediatric and Neonatal Thrombosis and Hemostasis and was selected as a member of the pediatrics planning committee for the 2026 ISTH Congress. There was also an oral abstract presentation on the hemophilia study led by for Division Chief Deborah Brown, MD.

Several Division trainees and nurse practitioners had poster presentations: fellows Ramya Ramakrishnan, MD; Oleyinka Okeleji, MBBS; Alex Hsu, MD; and Adrian Gutierrez, MD; Rice undergraduate student Michael Dong; and Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center staff members Joanna Larson, NP, and Natalie Montanez, NP.
