Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to share an exciting milestone in our Women’s Services expansion: our new Mother Baby Unit on 9 West Jones is officially open.
This newly renovated space — previously occupied by Transplant Acute Care, which has relocated to 6 East Jones — marks a major step forward in how we care for mothers and their newborns. The Mother Baby Unit is designed for couplet care, bringing stable moms and their healthy babies together in a healing environment that supports bonding, education and recovery.
With this opening, we are also aligning our Women’s Services units to better meet the needs of our growing maternal population:
• 9 West Jones – Mother Baby Unit: Formerly called the Women’s Extended Care Unit, this upgraded space is dedicated to stable postpartum moms and their healthy infants receiving couplet care.
• Hermann Pavilion 6 – Family Life Center: Home to antepartum patients, postpartum moms (with or without their infants), NICU moms and others needing specialized maternal care.
• Hermann Pavilion 5 – Labor & Delivery & High Risk Antepartum: Consolidated space for both L&D and high risk antepartum care.
This expansion increases our Women’s Services bed capacity from 76 to 95, strengthening our ability to care for more families across Greater Houston while supporting the exceptional work you do every day.
Thank you to every team member who helped bring this vision to life — from nursing, medical staff, facilities, clinical operations, EVS and security partners, to those who supported patients and colleagues through months of construction and moves. Your adaptability and commitment have made this possible.
As we continue enhancing our campus, we remain grateful for your dedication to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care for the families who trust us during one of the most important moments of their lives.
Thank you for all you do each day for Memorial Hermann-TMC and our community.
With gratitude,
Emily Weber
