UT-REAL Pilot Award Program
The UT-REAL-Health-AI (UT-REAL) Pilot Award Program supports projects that leverage AI to improve health across Texas. It also advances foundation/custom models, tests cross-institution generalizability, and drives system-level efficiency and scalability. Details were shared via email and are now posted in SharePoint. Applications are due Jan. 10, 2026. Learn more and apply.
Advocacy Programs Recruiting Leaders
- The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) is looking for members interested in assisting the Board of Directors with achieving the goals of the organization’s strategic plan.
- The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is now offering Community Pediatrics Training Initiatives Grants. There is also a Section on Early Career Physicians Health Equity Grant Program that supports research, interventions, and education that address health disparities in communities and institutions. You can compare the available opportunities to see which is right for you.

Thrasher Research Fund
Submit a concept paper to the Thrasher Research Fund’s 2026 spring cycle to see if your project qualifies. Ideal for early-career researchers. Funding is $25,000, and deadline is March 2026. Reach out to Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations, Sarat Pratapchandran before applying.
Faculty Award in Professionalism Education
The John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Distinguished Faculty Award in Professionalism Education (FAPE) is accepting applications until Dec. 19. Faculty who have established one or more successful programs for promoting education in aspects of professionalism for learners enrolled in McGovern Medical School undergraduate or graduate programs are eligible to apply. Michelle S. Barratt, MD, MPH, received this recognition in 2022 and was recently featured in a promotional video for FAPE.
