Residents and leaders represent excellence at 2026 APPD Conference

The Department of Pediatrics was well represented at the Association of Pediatric Program Directors Conference (external link) this spring under the leadership of Residency Program Director Emma Omoruyi, MD, MPH, the incoming chief residents, and several key faculty.

Dr. Omoruyi gave an oral presentation and was awarded best abstract for the conference (pictured above right). She also had the opportunity to connect with the many authors of Graduate Medical Education in Pediatrics (external link), for which she and Veronica Gonzalez, MD, FAAP, wrote a chapter.

The incoming chief residents (pictured above, on left) participated in chief camp where they connected with UT Southwestern Pediatric Chief Resident Maurine Sam, a McGovern Medical School alumnus.

Last but not least, there were some special poster presentations: Residency and Fellowship Program Coordinators Judith Cerino and Melodie Allison and Assistant Professor of Pediatric Critical Care Thao Nguyen, MD, shared their research.
