Melissa Webb, MD, is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she serves as associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. She has clinical expertise in general pediatric cardiology, pulmonary hypertension, and pediatric interventional cardiology, with a special interest in cardiopulmonary interactions and social determinants of healthcare.
Dr. Webb earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame before receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Colorado, followed by fellowship training in pediatric cardiology and pediatric interventional cardiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Prior to joining Baylor College of Medicine in 2019, Dr. Webb held faculty appointments at Saint Louis University and The University of Chicago. An active clinician-scholar, Dr. Webb has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations focused on pulmonary hypertension and cardiac shunts in patients with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pediatric cardiac interventions, pulmonary vein disease, Fontan physiology, ventricular function, and innovation in congenital cardiac care. Her work has been featured in journals including Pulmonary Circulation, Cardiology in the Young, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, JACC: Case Reports, and Pediatric Cardiology. She is also recognized for her leadership in fostering psychological safety and team culture within pediatric cardiology.
Dr. Webb is committed to medical education and mentorship, regularly teaching fellows, residents, neonatologists, and multidisciplinary care teams. She is an active member of several national professional organizations, including the American Heart Association and Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
