On June 15, Department of Pediatrics division chiefs and key leaders gathered in the MSB Fifth Floor Gallery to hear plans from the medical school and clinical partners as well as updates on academic and research programs.

L-R: LaTanya J. Love, MD; Guy Giesecke, DHA, FACHE; and Cat Haskew each shared important updates and plans.
Dean LaTanya J. Love, MD, came home to pediatrics to share an overview from her office. Children’s Memorial Hermann Senior Vice President and CEO Guy Giesecke, DHA, FACHE, and Children’s Service Line Vice President Catherine “Cat” Haskew, presented strategic plans and got better acquainted with our pediatric leaders.
“I believe everyone learned something new! We have a great deal of energy and forward momentum at this time, and it is important for us to keep meeting as a group so our leaders can be up to date and able to represent the important parts of department they know best. Plus it is always good to see everyone in person!” said Mary Aitken, MD, MPH, FAAP, professor, department chair, and host of this half-day retreat.

L-R: Small groups performed a SWOT analysis and shared out findings.
The division chiefs will continue to discuss and unpack what was presented at their monthly meetings, organizing the collective thoughts to share more broadly as appropriate. We look forward to continuing our efforts together to build stronger and more integrated programs for children.
