Forensic Assessment Center Network (FACN)
The Child Safety and Integrated Care Division serves as the statewide hub for the Forensic Assessment Center Network (FACN): a coordinated group of child-abuse pediatricians from across Texas that provides medical expertise for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
The FACN provides expert consultation and education to Texas child-protection workers concerning suspected cases of child abuse and neglect. The FACN mission is to correct disparities in the availability of quality medical assessments for suspected child abuse and neglect victims and improve outcomes for all child-abuse victims in Texas. The FACN involves child-abuse pediatricians from UTHealth Houston, UT Health San Antonio, UT Southwestern Medical Center, UT Medical Branch, Texas Tech University, and UT Austin Dell Medical School.
