  • Inpatient (IO): Primary responsibility will be to manage inpatient hospital consults at CMHH (anticipated volume of ~10‐12 new patient consults per week); however, for continuity purposes, the fellow will also see one afternoon of outpatient clinic per week (~5‐6 pt’s)
  • Outpatient (OP) Clinic: Primary responsibility will be approximately 2‐3 CARE clinic days per week (anticipated volume of ~15‐20 patients/week), as well as concurrent case management of case reviews on the online web system (FACN); inpatient exposure on his/her call weekends
  • Research: The fellow will be assigned one outpatient CARE clinic afternoon per week (5‐6 patients) to assure adequate clinical exposure, and will only have potential inpatient responsibility for his/her assigned call weekends
  • Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE): Primary responsibility will be exposure to FNE exams in ER setting (Ben Taub hospital); NO call responsibility, however, for continuity purposes, the fellow will also see one afternoon of outpatient CARE clinic per week (~5‐6 patients)
  • Forensic Path: Primary responsibility will be exposure to pathology (general, neuropathology and forensic anthropology) at the HCIFS; will also see one afternoon of outpatient CARE clinic per week (~5‐6 patients) and have inpatient exposure on his/her call; inpatient exposure on his/her call weekends
  • Rehab: Primary responsibility will be to see patients in a pediatric rehabilitation setting, to familiarize fellows with the potential long‐term physical consequences of child abuse and neglect and care coordination
  • Child Psych: Will be exposed to both inpatient consults (approx 5‐10/wk) and outpatient clinics two afternoons per week (approx 5‐10 patients/wk); further inpatient exposure on his/her call; for continuity purposes, the fellow will also see one afternoon of outpatient CARE clinic per week (~5‐6 patients)
  • Radiology: Fellow will spend two weeks in pediatric radiology and two weeks in neuroradiology, attend monthly child maltreatment multi‐disciplinary meeting and weekly pediatric radiology rounds
  • Behavior/Developmental: Outpatient clinics 3 days per week at CLI (approx 10‐15 patients/wk); for continuity purposes, the fellow will also see one afternoon of outpatient CARE clinic per week (~5‐6 patients); inpatient exposure on his/her call
  • Advocacy: Fellows will spend two weeks at District Attorney’s office to gain experience in court preparation and trial exposure. The remainder of the rotation will be at the Chimney Rock CPS Clinic performing well child examinations on children in foster care and/or CPS custody and evaluating potential cases of maltreatment. Further inpatient exposure on his/her call; for continuity purposes, the fellow will also see one afternoon of outpatient CARE clinic per week (~5-6 pt’s)
  • Juvenile Detention Center (JDC): Fellows will observe and perform physical examinations on high-risk adolescents. They will gain experience evaluating for and managing sexually transmitted infections in the high‐risk adolescent population.
  • Child Psychology: Fellows will spend time with child psychologists admitted to CMHH; review available types of therapy. Further inpatient exposure on his/her call; for continuity purposes, the fellow will also see one afternoon of outpatient CARE clinic per week (~5-6 pt’s)
