Biography

Kate Richardson, MS, CGC, is a board-certified genetic counselor with expertise in neurodevelopmental genetics, rare disease advocacy, and teratogen counseling. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with an Interdisciplinary Certificate in Children and Families from The University of Texas at Austin.

Kate’s clinical and advocacy work focuses on conditions such as tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and phenylketonuria (PKU), with a strong commitment to improving education and care for individuals and families affected by rare disorders. She has served as co-chair of the Patient Education Group with the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) since 2022 and co-chaired the 2022 National PKU Gala planning committee. Each year, Kate co-directs Camp PHEver, a week-long summer camp for children with PKU.

Her achievements include the 2018 Excellence in Publication Award from UTGCP and the 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Texas Society of Genetic Counselors. Kate is also a member of the TSC Alliance’s Perinatal Taskforce and serves on the organizing committee for the 2025 International TSC Research Conference.
