Dr. Zoabe Hafeez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School where he serves as the Director of Research for the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and its associated fellowship; Co-director of McGovern’s Child Health and Advocacy Track; Director of Inpatient Research for the Department of Pediatrics Population Health Initiative; and is a non-resident fellow at the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. He is also double board–certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine and primarily practices at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Hafeez’s research and advocacy focuses on the geospatial analysis of local-level public health issues facing children. This body of work has included safe walking and biking in the Houston area, transportation injuries, physical activity, child-health policy, and identifying social determinants of health needs in hospitalized patients. He is the Co-principal Investigator of a grant aimed at implementing and studying a social determinants of health screening and intervention program and an investigator on grants funding the Violence and Injury Prevention Research Center at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Hafeez is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Texas Pediatric Society and, through and between his titles and affiliations, is a dedicated mentor to medical professionals with an aim to continue our institution’s culture of fostering effective professionals committed to the well-being of Houston-area children.
