Liver Clinic

In conjunction with the Texas Liver Center, the pediatric Liver Clinic is part of a team of nationally renowned medical experts committed to providing leading-edge medical care to children and adolescents with liver disease and liver transplantation in a compassionate environment. This varied group of experts includes three liver transplant surgeons with experience in pediatric liver transplantation. With more than 1,000 patient visits annually, the team cares for children with fatty liver disease, hepatitis, short bowel syndrome, and who have undergone liver transplantation.

The Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, & Nutrition Division is home to hepatologists that see  children with chronic liver disease as well as pediatric patients both before and after liver transplantation in the multidisciplinary clinic and inpatient service. Several clinicians participate in the interdisciplinary management of these children, including pediatric hepatologists, pediatric surgeons, transplant surgeons, nutritionists, nurses, and a nurse practitioner trained explicitly in managing chronic liver disease in children. The Liver Clinic actively manages a wide variety of children with chronic liver disease, including those with biliary atresia, autoimmune hepatitis, infectious hepatitis, metabolic liver disease, and fatty liver disease.
