Liver Clinic

In conjunction with the Texas Liver Center, we are part of a team of nationally renowned medical experts who are committed to providing children and adolescents with liver disease and liver transplantation with leading-edge medical care in a compassionate environment. We are part of a team that includes three liver transplant surgeons with experience in pediatric liver transplantation. We have more than 1,000 patient visits annually in the new multidisciplinary Texas Liver Center and Intestinal Rehabilitation Center, which includes children with liver transplantation, fatty liver disease, hepatitis, and short bowel syndrome.

The division staff consists of a hepatology team that actively sees children with chronic liver disease and those before and after liver transplantation in our multidisciplinary clinic and in our inpatient service. This team consists of several individuals who participate in the interdisciplinary management of these children, including pediatric hepatologists, pediatric surgeons, transplant surgeons, nurses, and nutritionists trained explicitly in managing chronic liver disease in children. Our program actively manages a wide variety of children with chronic liver disease, including those with biliary atresia, autoimmune hepatitis, infectious hepatitis, metabolic liver disease, and fatty liver disease.
