General Nephrology
This team of expert clinicians focuses on children referred by their concerned primary care providers for evaluation and management of kidney disease. Children with previously diagnosed kidney disease or high blood pressure are also followed by this care team during clinics offered multiple times each week. The goal of these clinics is early detection and management that aims to stabilize and slow the progression of kidney disease. Children approaching end-stage renal disease are referred to our multi-disciplinary pre-transplant clinic.
The pediatric nephrology division is a major regional referral center that provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney disorders in infants, children, and adolescents, including:
- Acidosis and electrolyte disorders
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
- Birth defects of the urinary and kidney system
- Blood and protein in the urine (proteinuria/hematuria)
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
- Cystic kidney disease
- Early prevention of diabetic kidney disease
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Genetic kidney diseases
- Infections of the kidneys and urinary tract (UTI)
- Kidney biopsy
