340B
What is a 340B Program?
The 340B Program was created by Congress as part of the Veterans Health Care Act of 1992. Also known as a Public Health Service (PHS), 340B is a federal drug-pricing program that allows Hemophilia Treatment Centers, or HTCs, to get medications for their patients at a reduced cost. The federal government requires that the money generated by the 340B Program be used solely to maintain and enhance comprehensive care at the HTC. This circular system ensures sustainability of the HTC and longevity of care for patients.
Simply put, this means better, more affordable care for patients and their families.
Ordering is Easy
Contact the treatment center to place your order. The medication is delivered directly to the patient’s home or workplace. Insurance claims are filed for patients, and pharmacy billing staff works with patients to verify coverage or follow up on a claim. And, of course, there are no additional charges for infusion supplies or shipping.
Check Eligibility
Participation in the program is voluntary. Patients can call the GSHTC office, 713-500-8364, to check eligibility to receive medication through Gulf States Pharmacy, the Hemophilia Treatment Center’s 340B Program.
