General Nephrology
We focus on children referred by their concerned primary care providers for evaluation and management of kidney disease. Children with previously diagnosed kidney disease or high blood pressure are also followed in this clinic. The goal of these clinics is early detection and management aiming to stabilize and slow progression of kidney disease. Children approaching End Stage Renal Disease are referred to our multi-disciplinary pre-transplant clinic.
We are a major regional referral center for patients, providing evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of kidney disorders in infants, children and adolescents, including:
- Acidosis and electrolyte disorders
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
- Birth defects of the urinary and kidney system
- Blood and protein in the urine (proteinuria/hematuria)
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
- Cystic kidney disease
- Early prevention of diabetic kidney disease
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Genetic kidney diseases
- Infections of the kidneys and urinary tract (UTI)
- Kidney biopsy
