Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital
Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital (CMHH) is located in the Texas Medical Center and has a 118 bed Level IV neonatal intensive care unit. CMHH is our primary inpatient site where residents will spend a majority of time while on inpatient rotations. At this site, residents will complete their pediatric floor, NICU, PICU, well-baby, emergency medicine, and subspecialty rotations. Residents will gain exposure as the primary inpatient team for a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions.
Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital
LBJ is a county hospital within the Harris Health system that has a Level III NICU, high-risk nursery, and a well-baby nursery. Residents at this site will be practicing and learning in a location that serves a medically uninsured/underinsured population.
C.E. Odom Pediatric Adolescent Clinic
Not far from LBJ Hospital, Cleveland E. Odom (CEO) Clinic is also within the Harris Health system and is a primary care clinic that cares for pediatric patients. Many of the infants born at LBJ end up being seen by the residents at CEO. This is one of the possible continuity clinic sites for residents, and it is an especially useful site for those wishing to work with a primarily Spanish-speaking population.
MD Anderson Cancer Center
MD Anderson is a top-ranked cancer center that has a large inpatient pediatric oncology unit. A variety of rare and common pediatric oncology problems are treated at this hospital. Residents work closely with both pediatric hospitalists and oncologists to manage these medically complex patients during their pediatric oncology rotation.
UT Physicians Clinics
UT Physicians is an outpatient clinic site with pediatric primary and subspecialty services. There are a variety of primary-care sites around Houston that are possible options for resident continuity clinic sites where they will see both well and sick patients. The UT Physicians clinic in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) has a primary-care clinic in addition to all of our pediatric subspecialties. With the clinic being in the TMC across from CMHH, it is easy to see inpatient subspecialty consults and attend subspecialty clinics all in the same day while on subspecialty rotations.
