Continuity Clinic: one half day per week |
- Family Medicine Inpatient Service Memorial Hermann Hospital (two months)
Inpatient Family Medicine supervised by Family Medicine faculty and third-year residents. Call every 6th or 7th night. - Elective 1 (one month)
… - Obstetrics (one month)
This rotation is focused in the triage area, Labor and Delivery, at LBJ General Hospital. Family Medicine residents work closely with Obstetrics residents four shifts per week. - Pediatrics MHH Inpatient (one month)
Predominately inpatient experience. One month features a combined high risk and low risk NICU/Nursery experience. The second month is a pediatric floor rotation at LBJ General. Both months include call every third or fourth night and all rotations are supervised by Pediatric faculty. - Gynecology (one month)
Outpatient experience supervised by OB/GYN faculty at the LBJ OB Outpatient Clinic and see gynecological patients at two family medicine ambulatory clinics. Residents gain emergency gynecologic experience twice weekly at LBJ Hospital Emergency Room seeing emergent gynecologic problems. - Surgery In & Out (one month)
Residents rotate with faculty surgeons from the UT Department of Surgery for a one month inpatient experience at LBJ Hospital. The second month is an outpatient experience seeing clinic patients with faculty attendings at the Surgery Clinic at LBJ. This provides the resident with ample opportunity to hone in his/her minor surgery procedural skills. The resident will also be in the suture room one day per week. These two months provide a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient experiences and didactics. Call averages every fourth night for the inpatient experience with no call for the outpatient experience. - Emergency Room (one month)
Residents rotate with the Department of Emergency Center for one month. Residents are scheduled approximately total of 15 shifts throughout the month. Shifts includes 10 nights. - Pedi ER (one month)
- Intensive Care Unit (one month)
This rotation provides an excellent opportunity to learn Intensive Care management Call is every 3rd-4th night at LBJ General Hospital. - Family Medicine Inpatient Service LBJ Hospital (two months)The resident physician will appreciate the role of inpatient management of acute and chronic diseases commonly seen in family practice. The resident physician will communicate effectively with patients, families, and other physicians regarding advance directives decisions for critically ill patients. The resident physician will facilitate the flow of information from the inpatient setting to the outpatient setting.
