Sports Medicine Fellowship Program

About Our Program

The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program is a collaboration between the McGovern Medical School’s Department of Family & Community Medicine and Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

McGovern Medical School is a part of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston).

We provide service to patients of many cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds while teaching fellows. We emphasize treating all patients with dignity regardless of the patient’s background.

The mission of the Sports Medicine Fellowship is to train the best future sports medicine physicians to have the skills to care for the whole person, their family and community.

A university-based setting allows the physician to learn negotiation and administrative skills. These will allow them to facilitate teams throughout their career.

The flexibility of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program educational experience provides future sports medicine physicians with the knowledge and skills to succeed regardless of the path they choose to follow.
