How to Apply
The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at UTHealth Houston receives and considers applications via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) system ONLY. UTHealth does not accept H1B visas. J1 visas are permitted.

Applicants to the program must have completed 3 years of an ACGME-accredited residency and have passed USMLE / COMLEX Step 1, 2 CS & CK, and 3 by their fellowship start date. The specialties that may subspecialize in Geriatric Medicine include:
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
Documents required with ERAS application include:
- Personal statement describing topics such as interest in Geriatric Medicine and the care of older adults, commitment to the board-certified practice of Geriatric Medicine following graduation, personal interest in the UTHealth Houston fellowship program, and practice interest in Houston, Texas, following graduation
- Current curriculum vitae (CV)
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- Medical School transcript (MST)
- Three (3) recent letters of recommendation (LoR), including Program Director (PD) letter
- Current professional headshot photo
- United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA) score transcripts for passed Step 1, 2 CS & CK, and 3
- Proof of citizenship, permanent residency, or visa status
