Aortic dissection is a silent and often misunderstood killer that, along with related vascular diseases, is a leading cause of death for both men and women. The John Ritter Research Program in Aortic and Vascular Diseases (JRRP) is working hard to prevent premature deaths due to aortic dissection through identifying genes that predispose to the disease (a first step in identifying who is at risk), understanding why the disease occurs, and identifying new therapies to prevent aortic disease. In addition, the program will work to increase awareness and educate both the public and emergency room personnel to the dangers of aortic dissection and promote life-saving reminders to help in early detection and surgical intervention. Through its research and educational efforts, the John Ritter Research Program strives to save lives that too often are lost unnecessarily.

Your gift to the JRRP helps make it possible for the dedicated staff to accelerate their research into the genetic causes of the diseases and discover new therapies to prevent premature deaths. Your gift will also help fund a national effort in raising public awareness for early testing and detection as well as emergency personnel around the country.

We are grateful for your support of this important program, and we cannot thank you enough.
