Last October, Samer Fakhri, MD, FACS, FRCS(C), visited Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as an invited external examiner for the otorhinolaryngology certification boards of both countries.
Dr. Fakhri spent a day in Riyadh, reviewing certification exams required of Saudi otolaryngologists prior to beginning independent practice, followed by a two-day visit to Kuwait City, where he examined candidates for the Kuwaiti Board of Otolaryngology and participated in an effort to standardize the evaluation of physicians in residency training.
Dr. Fakhri is an associate professor and residency program director in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School and a core member of the Texas Sinus Institute.
