Samer Fakhri, MD, Chairs Rhinology Program at Middle East Conference in Dubai, Serves as Invited Faculty in Tehran

Internationally recognized rhinologist Samer Fakhri, MD, FACS, FRCS(C), served as chairman of the Rhinology Program at the 5th Annual Middle East Update on Otolaryngology Conference and Exhibition, held April 20-22 at Madinat Arena Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Dr. Fakhri, who is a core member of the Texas Sinus Institute (www.texassinus.org) and Texas Skull Base Physicians (www.texasskullbase.org ) at UTHealth Medical School, is professor, vice chair and residency program director in the department of Otorhinolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery.

Hundreds of physicians and healthcare professionals from around the world attended the three-day meeting, which included speaker faculty from the United States, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, India, France, Canada, Australia, Qatar, Egypt, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and The Netherlands. Sessions included instructional courses and panel discussions on various rhinology topics, including management of frontal sinus disease, recalcitrant postoperative chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic fungal sinusitis and skull base surgery. The meeting also included other subspecialty programs such as head and neck cancer treatment, rhinoplasty, obstructive sleep apnea, cochlear implants, otology, reconstruction after head and neck cancer surgery, and management of voice disorders, among other topics.

Dr. Fakhri was also among invited international faculty at the 4th Middle East Conference on Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery held April 23-25 in Tehran, Iran. The largest gathering of rhinologists and facial plastic surgeons in the Middle East, the conference allows surgeons to learn from internationally distinguished experts and enhance their proficiency, surgical skills and knowledge to improve the health and quality of life of their patients. Dr. Fakhri joined conference faculty from the United States, Belgium, Germany, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Italy, Egypt, Switzerland and Austria.
