Sancak Yuksel, MD, an otorhinolaryngologist affiliated with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and an assistant professor in the department of Otorhinolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at UTHealth Medical School, has been recognized with the medical school’s Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award for the third consecutive year. Recognized for the second time was Ron Karni, MD, who holds dual appointments as an assistant professor in the department of Otorhinolaryngology and the division of Medical Oncology.
The Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award is an annual recognition presented to faculty and volunteers for outstanding teaching performance. Those chosen to receive the award have exhibited outstanding teaching, incited intellectual curiosity in their students, engaged them in the learning process, helped them develop lifelong skills or otherwise served with distinction.
“Sharing my knowledge hones my medical skills,” Dr. Yuksel says. “I feel privileged to be in a position to make a lasting impact on our residents’ careers and the lives of their future patients.”
“We all derive special pleasure from the training of residents,” Dr. Karni says. “A doctor’s education never ends. I believe I speak for every faculty member when I say that we are privileged to both teach and learn from our residents.”
