Rajarshi Pratihar, AuD, MHA, MBA, joined the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston as director of audiology in November 2022.
Dr. Pratihar earned his Doctor of Audiology at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City in 2010, following a bachelor’s degree in audiology and speech rehabilitation from the University of Calcutta, India. He completed a fellowship at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit and cochlear implant training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He also earned a Master of Healthcare Administration/Business Administration at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Dr. Pratihar holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA). His clinical and operational interests include hearing care and cognition, healthcare access, cost-effectiveness, clinical efficiency, and digital transformation. He joins the department from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he was a senior audiologist and was a mentor for the Doctorate of Audiology Fellowship Program from 2012-2022. He was a designated Epic Super User for the audiology-EHR integration from 2015-2022 and was recognized for outstanding job performance from 2010-2019. He played a critical role in establishing the Oncologic Doctorate of Audiology Fellowship Program, and has served as a collaborator for multiple oncologic clinical trials.
He has authored several peer-reviewed publications and has frequently presented at professional conferences. He is a member of the American Academy of Audiology, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, American Auditory Society, and American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr. Pratihar also is a member of the Communication and Special Services Committee of the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show. He enjoys horseback riding, ballroom dancing, cycling, and DYI projects in his free time.
