UT Health Houston McGovern Medical School Continuing Medical EducationMcGovern Medical School proudly announces the continued growth of its Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) after securing accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). This essential office, mandated annually for state licensing and board certification, remains committed to offering CME credits to the esteemed faculty physicians affiliated with McGovern Medical School and beyond.

Formerly operating as a joint endeavor between McGovern Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine, the CME office officially transitioned into the Office of Continuing Medical Education at McGovern Medical School in March 2022. This transition greatly benefits the entire medical community, with recipients of the office’s CME events extending to McGovern Medical School faculty, residents, students, and various healthcare professionals.

Dr. Zi Yang Jiang, Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee, shares the institution’s ambitions for this office, stating, “Our goals encompass broadening the range of events offered within our institution, enhancing interdepartmental participation and collaboration, and leveraging our data team at UT Physicians to base education topic selections on clinical trends and predictions.”

The Committee on Continuing Medical Education diligently collected activity and learner data from previous years, establishing a robust organizational structure, and successfully obtaining accreditation from the ACCME. This accreditation signifies the freedom and initiative to craft learning events tailored to the specific needs of their dedicated learners.

The Committee on Continuing Medical Education, led by Dr. Zi Yang Jiang, Dr. James Kellam as the director, and Vaccaro Greaves in the role of executive services administrator, continues its mission. Dr. Kellam, who has a history of collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, remains dedicated to the success of the office, while Mr. Greaves spearheads administrative efforts for all departments of the Medical School during this transition period.
