Mohamed Darwish, MD, has joined the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston as an assistant professor.
A top-ranking graduate of Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Darwish completed his residency in otolaryngology at Cairo University hospitals, which serves a large population in metropolitan Cairo. He subsequently joined the Faculty of Medicine at New Kasr El-Aini Teaching Hospital of Cairo University.
He continued his education in the United States, completing observerships and research fellowships at Louisiana Spine and Pain Institute and Sinus and Nasal Specialists of Louisiana. He went on to complete a two-year rhinology fellowship at the Maryland Nose and Sinus Center, followed by a yearlong advanced rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he managed a diverse clinical and surgical caseload.
“I’m very pleased to join one of the best ENT teams in the country and to continue my work in academic medicine,” says Dr. Darwish, who is known for his strong work ethic and dedication. “My practice style with patients is to listen closely and educate them so that they are fully engaged in their treatment plans, allowing us to work together as a team.”
Dr. Darwish will practice general otolaryngology at UT Physicians Otorhinolaryngology-The Woodlands and will also serve on the medical staff at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, part of Harris Health System. His clinical interests include chronic rhinosinusitis, sinonasal tumors, allergies, and minimally invasive, office-based procedures for the nose and sinuses.
