Nicholas Rossi, MD | McGovern Medical School

Biography

Nicholas Rossi, MD, is an assistant professor and a pediatric otolaryngologist in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at UTHealth in Houston. Having earned a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors at The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Rossi continued to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for medical school followed by a residency in otolaryngology. After graduation, he furthered his training with a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH.

During his residency, he also took on the additional role of editorial board member for the publication Translational Pediatrics, a position he still holds. In this role, he is involved in steering the journal’s content towards advancements with tangible clinical impact in pediatric health care. In addition, he is the author or co-author of numerous articles and abstracts as well as having given presentations and exhibited posters at local, national, and international meetings.

Aside from his work, Dr. Rossi is very active in community service. He has served in roles as diverse as volunteering in a student clinic, running a booth at a children’s Halloween carnival, and cleaning a park at a “Keep Austin Beautiful” event.

Dr. Rossi is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Rossi’s clinical interests include pediatric sleep apnea, noisy breathing in infants and children, recurrent and chronic sinusitis, pediatric neck masses, pediatric hearing loss, and surgical management with techniques such as intracapsular tonsillectomy, endoscopic sinus surgery, and endoscopic tympanoplasty.

Research Interests

His research focuses on adenotonsillectomy for pediatric obstructive sleep apnea, including perioperative safety and outcomes such as AHI, as well as the impact of emerging technologies and systems—such as social media and artificial intelligence—on pediatric otolaryngology.
