Biography

Kunal S. Jain, MD is an associate professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics at Cornell University, spending his junior year at the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom. After earning his medical degree at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, he completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He joined the faculty of UTHealth and medical staff of Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center after completing a fellowship in Head and Neck oncology and micro-vascular reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Jain is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Kunal Jain is a reviewer for multiple journals (Head and Neck, JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery). He has presented nationally and internationally, and has coauthored articles published in Head and Neck, The Laryngoscope, Cancer, and Thyroid and other peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include improving outcomes of head and neck oncologic and reconstructive procedures. He is on multiple committees of the American Head and Neck Society.

Dr. Kunal Jain treats patients with benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including throat cancer, oral cancer, larynx cancer, locally advanced skin cancer, salivary gland tumors, thyroid/parathyroid disease and performs reconstructive surgery. He also spent a year in fellowship to learn robotic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where the technology was pioneered, and performs minimally invasive transoral robotic surgery for throat cancer patients.
