Online Patient Access Library Offers Medical Information About ENT Diseases & Conditions to Patients

July 9, 2012

Patients can now find reliable information about a variety of ear, nose and throat conditions on UTHealth Otorhinolaryngology’s new web portal OPAL, the Online Patient Access Library.

“In our practice, we’re strong advocates for the involvement of our patients in their healthcare decisions, and we invest a great deal of time educating patients and their families during each office visit or telephone call,” says Martin J. Citardi, MD, professor and chair of the department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School and chief of otorhinolaryngology at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. “Because our patients may feel overwhelmed during a doctor visit, we created OPAL as a useful resource and a supplement to that direct communication that we do in the office.”

The OPAL online library is updated regularly to reflect the latest developments in otorhinolaryngology.
