Fly in Ear
The photograph shows a fly that was trapped next to the right ear drum. The patient tried to dig out the bug and caused a small abrasion to the external canal. After the ear canal was anesthetized the fly was removed using specialized instruments.
Eraser in Ear
A five year old male came into the office with an eraser stuck in his ear canal. When asked how it got there, he said “I don’t know.” The eraser was removed easily, and the young man sent home on antibiotic ear drops.
Cockroach in Ear
Painful, blocked ear which improved once the bug was removed and the patient started on antibiotics and antibiotic drops.
This tissue was used instead of a plug at a loud concert. Once removed no further treatment was needed.
This patient was getting a hearing aid mold made. The molding material was pushed in to the middle ear through a existing perforation. This patient required middle surgery to remove the foreign body.
