Academic Activities

Over the course of their two-year fellowship, fellows have the opportunity to create an individualized curriculum tailored to their personal goals and projected career path within PHM. The following courses and conferences will augment their individualized curriculum, providing a well-rounded education in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Teaching Conferences

Pediatric Grand Rounds
Held from 8-9AM every Tuesday morning. Grand Rounds are a series of lectures, which present the symptoms, diagnosis, and management of a particular disease in the pediatric population.

Pediatric Fellowship Core Curriculum
Second Tuesday of every month 12-1PM; A didactic session or workshop is provided for the fellows in all Pediatric Subspecialty Training Programs to provide an educational forum to address common ACGME program requirements.

Pediatric M&M
Held quarterly, presentations done in conjunction with pediatric residents and faculty.

PHM Journal Club
Held quarterly by PHM faculty at TMC, with participation from faculty in Sugar Land, Katy, and TMC. Fellows will be expected to participate in all journal clubs, and lead one per year.

Sugar Land PHM Journal Club
Held monthly by PHM faculty at our community site in Sugar Land, with participation from faculty in Sugar Land, Katy, and TMC. Fellows will lead the Sugar Land journal club during their community PHM rotation there.

Attending-led Morning Report
Occurs 2-3 times per month. Attendings choose and prepare a case for morning report, then guide the residents and medical students on wards through the case. Fellows will be expected to lead at least one case quarterly.

PHM Division Meeting
Held every Thursday 12-1pm. Fellows are expected to attend all meetings unless on vacation, post-call, or clinical duties preclude them from attending.
