Block Rotation Schedule

Fellows are required to complete 96 weeks of rotations, broken down into the following categories:

Fellows and attending with service dogs in hospital

  • Core PHM Rotations: 32 weeks
    • 12 weeks on wards at TMC – time will be distributed between weeks on service, days on Transfer Center, and night shifts
    • 4 weeks on wards at our community site in Sugar Land
    • 2 weeks in the well-baby nursery
    • 2 weeks on procedural sedation
    • 2 weeks on palliative care
    • 2 weeks in the comprehensive care clinic
    • 8 weeks of core PHM experiences that can be tailored to the fellow’s career objectives. Options include PHM at TMC, PHM at Sugar Land, PHM at TIRR, or PICU at TMC
  • Individualized PHM Rotations: 32 weeks
    • These 8 rotations (4 weeks each) will be selected based on the fellow’s individualized career pathway. Potential rotations include: Child Abuse, Global Health, Transport, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Wound Care, Inpatient Psychiatry and more as requested by fellow.
  • Research and Scholarly Activity: 32 weeks dedicated time
  • Vacation: 3 weeks per academic year
  • Personal Days: 7 per academic year
