Biography

Salih Selek, MD, is a professor in the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also the director of the Refractory Mood Disorders Program and leads the ECT Clinic and Neuromodulation Clinical Trials at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). Selek is ranked one of the top international experts, specializing in mood disorders. He currently offers both inpatient and outpatient ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) services.

Selek received his medical degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey in 2001 and completed his psychiatry residency training at Gaziantep University in Gaziantep, Turkey in 2007. Before joining the department in 2014, he served as the chairperson of the psychiatry department in Istanbul Medeniyet University, Faculty of Medicine. In addition, Selek has published more than 100 scholarly papers with more than 2,200 citations. He’s received numerous internal, national, and international awards, including the APA Young Investigator Colloquium and International Fellowship by the Society of Biological Psychiatry.
