Dean Atkinson, MD

Biography

Dean Atkinson, MD, is an attending physician at UTHealth Houston Behavioral Sciences Campus, an Associate Program Director for the General Psychiatry Residency Program, an an assistant professor in the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is certified in adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Atkinson received his medical degree from UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School and completed his general residency training at the psychiatry department at UTHealth Houston before officially joining the department of 2020. He has clinical interest in the inpatient treatment of severe mental illnesses, mentorship, clinician education, and advanced interviewing techniques.
