Kenia Velasquez, PsyD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is a licensed psychologist with primary clinical interests in the assessment and delivery of evidence-based treatments for adults with mental health concerns and serious mental illness. She has clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in various settings including specialized mental health clinics, community mental health centers, telehealth clinics, inpatient medical and psychiatric hospitals.
Velasquez provides inpatient psychological services to adults at the Dunn Behavioral Sciences Campus. She also provides education and supervision to psychology interns, residents and practicum students rotating within the Dunn Behavioral Sciences Campus.
Velasquez earned her doctorate degree in Clinical/School Psychology at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She completed her predoctoral internship at UTHealth Houston with an emphasis on trauma, serious mental illness, and addiction with patients across the lifespan. She also completed specialized training in behavioral medicine and serious mental illness as a postdoctoral fellow at Ben Taub Hospital with Baylor College of Medicine.
