Dr. Bonita Sur is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Director of Psycho Oncology at UT Health Houston, where she provides clinical care and programmatic leadership at the Lindig Family Cancer Resource Center at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona, with specialized training in health psychology, and completed her pre doctoral clinical internship at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Her graduate training emphasized evidence-based psychological interventions for individuals coping with complex medical conditions.
Dr. Sur’s clinical expertise centers on psycho-oncology, with particular focus on health anxiety, fear of cancer recurrence, caregiver burden, and emotional adjustment across the cancer continuum. She works with patients and families navigating diagnosis, active treatment, survivorship, and medical uncertainty, integrating cognitive behavioral, acceptance based, and skills oriented approaches to support psychological resilience and quality of life.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sur has a strong interest in lifestyle behavior change and motivation related to health behaviors, particularly as they intersect with chronic illness and medical treatment adherence. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence based care that addresses both the psychological and behavioral dimensions of cancer and serious illness.
