Toi Blakley Harris, M.D., is a physician executive and practicing psychiatrist who has held leadership and clinical roles for over twenty years in academic medicine and health systems. She received board certification in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and psychosomatic medicine from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Harris is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School. Regionally, Dr. Harris participates with the Texas Medical Association’s Committee on Physician Health and Wellness in various capacities, including as an education team member, chair, and current consultant to the committee. Additionally, Dr. Harris serves on the Board of Directors of the Texana Center and the Mental Health America of Greater Houston.
Dr. Harris is also actively engaged with national professional organizations. Most recently, her organizational involvement includes the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), where she has led in several capacities with the Group on Women in Medicine and Science, the Faculty Workgroup for the Advancing Holistic Principles Advisory Committee, the Distinguished Research in the Biomedical Sciences Award Committee, and the Group on Student Affairs Professional Development Initiative Advisory Committee. As a prior fellow, Dr. Harris contributes to Drexel University’s executive leadership program for academic medicine and health care, ELAM and ELH, as a Learning Community Advisor and speaker.
