Dr. Urvashi Prasad is an Assistant Professor in the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She serves as an inpatient psychiatrist at the John S. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center, where she provides clinical care for patients with complex psychiatric conditions in an acute inpatient setting.
Dr. Prasad’s clinical practice includes the evaluation and management of acute psychiatric illness, with a particular focus on identifying and treating patients experiencing acute suicidality. She provides care on an inpatient unit with a longstanding focus on treatment-resistant depression, delivering comprehensive psychiatric assessment and evidence-based treatment for individuals with severe and complex mood disorders.
Dr. Prasad completed her medical degree and psychiatry residency training at the University of Toronto. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Her academic interests have included medical education and the ethical considerations surrounding Medical Assistance in Dying.
