Bryan Cooksey
Bryan A. Cooksey, M.Ed., is the Special Programs Coordinator for the Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) program at UTHealth Houston. In this role, he leads youth mental health promotion and suicide prevention initiatives that equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to navigate mental health challenges and seek help when needed.
Bryan holds a Master of Education in Counseling and Development with a specialization in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a specialization in Public Relations and Advertisement from Texas Southern University. His multidisciplinary background in counseling, communications, and community engagement informs his approach to youth outreach and program development.
Since 2017, Bryan has impacted more than 5,000 youth, parents, families, and community members across Houston through school-based programming, community partnerships, and mental health education initiatives. He is passionate about fostering inclusive, supportive spaces where young people can thrive, build resilience, and reach their full potential.
