Purpose of the Research

When someone suffers a significant traumatic injury, they may need help caring for themselves after they are released from the hospital. In some cases, a family member or loved one takes on the role of caregiver which can become challenging and stressful as well as positive. As someone who may take on this role of caregiver, it is important to understand how the experience may impact your health.

The purpose of this study is:

  1. To examine your wellbeing as you care for your loved one after their release from the hospital.
  2. To determine whether the study interventions can reduce the impact of any stress caused by the added demands of caring for your loved one on your mental and physical health.
  3. To determine if supporting you as a caregiver will also help your loved one’s recovery.
