Research
Our multidisciplinary research center promotes research focused on improving access, continuity, integration, quality, equity, effectiveness and value of health care for underserved and vulnerable populations by:
- Conducting externally funded, innovative health equity research to improve behavioral health structure, process, and outcomes for vulnerable and underserved populations including racial/ethnic minorities, persons with serious mental illness, substance users, personas at risk for HIV/AIDS, people experiencing homelessness, foster children aging out of care, aging and disabled populations
- Accelerating the movement of health equity research findings to action through the development of effective knowledge translation strategies relevant stakeholders in the community, academia, and practice
- Offering research seminars in the Texas Medical Center on the translational research in behavioral health equity topics led by internationally known leaders in this area of research
- Supporting graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who are working on transferring new knowledge on addressing health disparities for vulnerable and underserved populations
