Evaluation: Older Survivors of Domestic Violence: Understanding Gaps in Systems Responses and Community Services in Texas

The goal of the Older Survivors of Sexual and Domestic Violence project is to improve community and criminal justice responses to the needs of victims 50 and older. The Older Survivors report is the result of a study led by researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch and the University of Central Florida in partnership with the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA); the Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV); and the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The Texas Adult Protective Services supported this project. The report includes information on the prevalence and impact of domestic and sexual violence for female-identified survivors in Texas and an assessment of needs for this vulnerable population. Service recommendations from survivor and staff interviews and surveys are included, as well as information about COVID-19 related impacts.
